Jackie Galama (Heeg, 2001) (she/they), based in Groningen

Jackie Galama is an artist and educator whose practice explores intimacy, the visceral, and the transformative. Her work questions the boundaries between individual and collective bodies, translating movement, ritual, and sensation into visual and performative forms. Through embodied experimentation, Jackie uses the body as both subject and medium to investigate sexuality, sensuality, and physicality. Her projects manifest as videos, installations, or performances.

Sorrowful Mysteries: Mary Magdalene, or: the Saint

‘Sorrowful Mysteries: Mary Magdalene, or: the Saint’ is a performance and performative relic developed following a temporary intimate encounter. Drawing from liturgical scoring, the rosary, and the Gospel of Mary, the work explores devotion through ritual endurance, bodily synchronization, and control. The work moves through cycles of repetition, obstruction, and collapse, unfolding as a sonic and durational exploration of collapse through ambience and deconstruction. Installed as loose-sleeved pages and partially stapled as residue, the accompanying publications operate simultaneously as a devotional object, an unstable archive, and a performance relic.
