Jackie Galama (Heeg, 2001) (she/they) is an artist and educator based in Groningen. In their practice, Jackie explores the body as a site of intimacy, transformation and friction. Through movement, ritual and physicality, they create performances where queerness, intimacy and sensuality come together. Their work is informed by a feminist perspective on the body and the ways in which ideas around femininity, gender and sexuality are shaped and passed on. Jackie explores how bodies can transform, unravel and relate to one another, and how the personal can shift into the collective. They are inspired by spaces at the edges of the mainstream, where alternative forms of togetherness, expression and embodiment can emerge.
